In memory of the bravest boy. Visa went to the bridge on August 9th, 2018 at the age of 12 years, 11 months. He came into our lives at the age of 9 underweight and following surgery to expose his teeth. His foster family did an amazing job along with their collie in rehabbing this sad boy.
The transition to his forever home was fraught with anxiety and the fear of not being in our presence. Through patience, love, and a new healthy diet, he began to thrive and attained his true weight of 94 pounds. The anxiety abated and he took proud ownership of his new home and large backyard. Daily walks with his retired dad through the bush or around the neighbourhood, he was introduce to the local deer and dog friends. It became obvious that this was all new to him, but he embraced it with a smile and wagging tail.
Over the past few months with his hearing gone and his eyesight failing rapidly, his hind quarters began to fail him. Two weeks ago he began to fall. Despite medication for his failing joints, he was to the point of being carried. Enough was enough. We were holding on for us. Could not bare the thought of losing this sweet incredible boy.
We will miss his soul that warmed this home. He was our boy and we were his students. He taught us so much.
