I wanted let you know are beautiful Brynn passed away a couple of weeks ago. She was 13.
We couldn’t have asked for a kinder, lovelier dog. We really miss her.
Here is a picture of her about a month before she died. She enjoyed her wood walks (albeit slow) right until the end.
Ben was rescued in the spring of 2019 suffering from starvation at the age of 8 years. His three month stop in foster care with fellow collies began his recovery. He arrived at our home in July of 2019 and required considerable work to overcome his dislike for wheeled vehicles including skateboards. He took possession of guardian of the front door with a passion all along while regaining his weight and muscle mass. He became such a sweet soul and eventually lost his desire to bark at every passing car while on a walk. He morphed into the gentleman of the block and friend to the feral cats that took refuge in our yard to avoid the coyotes.
But time was not on Ben’s side. I believe the eight years of neglect and malnutrition prior to rescue caught up with him. He was diagnosed with liver cancer and Cushing’s disease in April. The tumour was massive and inoperable. Despite our efforts to provide good food and medication he succumbed to his illness this morning. He will join his brothers, Visa, Riley, and Shadow on the bridge knowing he was loved and that we were with him at the end.
