Happy Tails: Laddie!

I hope you had a good Thanksgiving weekend! I just thought I'd give you an update about Laddie - it's been almost two years since I started looking into adopting a dog and found him!

He's been doing very well and my parents and sister have gotten really good at handling him. He's had to stay with them a few times for periods of up to 4 weeks because of work-related travel and he gets better every time. My dad won't admit it, but he but definitely has a soft spot for Lad now! He walks him every two hours whenever he has him! :)

I've also worked with Lad on running - we can now go on runs together without him herding! The biggest problem is that he isn't as fit as me (that makes me giggle) and doesn't run fast enough - or maybe he just doesn't want to! I still can't run around in an open field without him getting super hyper and mouthing, but on leash he has gotten quite good. I often hike with him off leash whenever I am somewhere with more secluded trails.

Lad still has bouts of excitement where he jumps all over the place but it's definitely gotten easier to shut those down if I have to quickly. He also has a great dog walker now who helps me when my schedule is packed and he's very good with him. Lad will walk in packs of up to 7 dogs sometimes and is often the best behaved!

Anyway, I just thought it would be nice to give you a mini "progress report." Lad's probably the best thing I could've done for myself in medical school and I'm so happy he ended up being the one!
